The 2021–22 CONCACAF Champions League will be the 57th season of North Americas's premier club football tournament organised by CONCACAF, and the 14th season since it was renamed from the CONCACAF Champions' Cup to the CONCACAF Champions League.
The winners of the 2021–22 CONCACAF Champions League qualified as the CONCACAF representative at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, and also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2021–22 CONCACAF SuperLiga in the 2022 CONCACAF Super Cup.
The final is expected to be held at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, United States. Exploria Stadium also hosted the final of the 2019–20 Champions League; however, the match was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Association team allocation
editAssociation ranking
editFor the 2021–22 CONCACAF Champions League, the associations are allocated places according to their 2019 CONCACAF country coefficients, which takes into account their performance in North American competitions from 2015–16 to 2019–20. The Federal Dependencies of Venezuela canceled their CONCACAF license and were replaced by the Republic of Yucatán.

Teams
editNOTE: The following list of qualified teams is provisional, subject to final confirmation by CONCACAF, as each participating team must obtain a CONCACAF club license. All qualified teams are included in this list as long as they have not been banned by CONCACAF or have not failed their final appeal with their football association on obtaining a license. |
The labels in the parentheses show how each team qualified for the place of its starting round:
- TH: Champions League title holders
- SL: SuperLiga title holders
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.: League positions of the previous season
- Ap. W/RU: Winner/runner-up of the Apertura tournament
- Cl. W/RU: Winner/runner-up of the Clausura turnament
- LC: Winner of League Cup/championship playoffs
- Abd-: League positions of abandoned season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in North America as determined by the national association; all teams are subject to approval by CONCACAF as per the guidelines for entry to CONCACAF competitions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
The second qualifying round, third qualifying round and play-off round are divided into Champions Path (CH) and League Path (LP).
Notes
- ^ Mexico (MEX): América qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League by the virtue of the Clausura champions, Cruz Azul qualifying by winning the 2020–21 CONCACAF Champions League, thus vacating their domestic spot to the highest finishing regular season team to not qualify for the Champions League.
- ^ United States (USA): Orlando City qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League by the virtue of the MLS regular season runner-up, Toronto FC, being ineligible for being a Canadian club, and by fourth-place finisher, Columbus Crew vacating their spot by winning MLS Cup 2020.
Round and draw dates
editDue to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and concerns surrounding the COVID-19 Delta variant on 1 July 2021, CONCACAF announced that for the second season in a row, the qualifying rounds of the Champions League would be single legs at a neutral location to minimize cross-contamination. On 8 July 2021, CONCACAF announced that the qualifying matches would be held at the soccer complex adjacent to Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, United States (near Denver) with the first round of qualifying matches being held on 2 August 2021. Unvaccinated teams would report to the facility at least 10 days ahead of qualification matches and stay on the premises. Vaccinated teams would report to the facility at least five days ahead of qualification. Unlike last year's qualification, qualification matches would be open to the public.
The group stage would return to each team hosting three matches in their home stadium, with three matches on the road. The exception is Haitian teams would play outside of Haiti due to the 2018–2021 Haitian protests unless determined by CONCACAF to meet safety protocols. Match attendance would be determined by local regulations. The knockout round is expected to retain normal procedures.
